Too Busy Not To Pray--Wednesdays, 7pm, Sept. - Nov. '10
Stephen Covey, in The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People, told the following story: Suppose you observed someone in the woods feverishly sawing down a tree. "What are you doing?" you ask. "Can't you see?" comes the reply. "I'm sawing down this tree." "You look exhausted!" you exclaim. "How long have you been at it?" "Over five hours," he returns, "and I'm beat! This is hard work." "Well, why don't you take a break and sharpen the saw?" you inquire. "I'm sure it would go a lot faster." "I don't have time to sharpen the saw," the man says emphatically. "I'm too busy sawing!" Now, that story captures what we're like when prayer isn't our habit. We're hectic, but exhausted. Join us to study, discuss, and put into practice the nourishing habit of prayer, using Philip Yancey's book Prayer, because as Bill Hybles entitled his book, we're "too busy not to pray."
